A GUIDE FOR OUR GUESTS ON SAFETY MEASURES
Introduction
During this Global Pandemic, we have introduced a set of safety measures in order to make your stay at our Bungalow, Eladetta Walauwa Kandy, as comfortable as possible.The following safety guidelines which cover all guest areas, are those set out by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Local Health Authorities, the Sri Lanka Tourism Authority and other associated industries.
We would review and update these guidelines regularly to ensure your safety during your stay.
On Arrival,
- You will be greeted with the traditional Sri Lankan greeting of “Ayubowan”.
- Washing and/or sanitizing of hands will be encouraged at the entrance.
- Shoes will be sprayed with a disinfectant prior to entering.
- A temperature check will be carried out.
- Wearing a face-mask is recommended when checking-in. Masks will be available to be purchased if required.
- A hot welcome drink will be offered. Cold towels will not be provided.
- Our entrance and lobby area is well ventilated and you can be comfortably seated with the recommended social distancing until all the check-in procedures and mandatory health declarations are handled.
Checking-In
- You will be required to fill in the Guest Registration on paper. If our pen is used, it will be sanitized after each use.
- The use of online fund transfers or credit/debit cards is encouraged in order to minimize the handling of cash.
- You are required to provide your medical history through a form that will be provided by us.
- Information regarding country of origin, flight number and seat number, date of arrival in Sri Lanka, other countries visited in the last three weeks, and next destination will be requested for. Please note that this information may need to be shared with local health authorities if requested for.
- In accordance with guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health & tourism authorities, the Bungalow reserves the right to refuse hosting of any guest displaying symptoms of COVID 19 at the time of screening.
- Your luggage will be disinfected on arrival. Our staff can take your luggage to the room. However, you may wish to carry your own as well.
- Room keys are disinfected prior to issuance.
Accommodation
- Your bedroom and bathroom will be thoroughly disinfected prior to your arrival. This includes floors, furniture, walls, air-conditioners, exhaust fans, and other amenities.
- Amenities will be limited inside each room and bathroom. However, they can be provided on request.
- To ensure a hygienic environment for both staff and guests, we have removed all loose carpets, decorations, stationery and throw cushions inside the room.
- All bedding and other linen will be washed in hot water and sanitized prior and after use.
- A notice with safety precautions will be displayed inside the room for your benefit.
- Hand sanitizers will be available in the rooms.
- Housekeeping services for rooms will be restricted to once a day, that too will be at your request. Cleaning staff work with masks/gloves while maintaining a safe distance from guests.
- During cleaning operations, the housekeeping cart too will be disinfected.
- Your temperature will be checked and recorded twice a day, morning & evening during you stay. Frequency may increase based on your movement outside the property.
- You will be required to sanitize your hands each time you move in and out of the property.
Laundry
- Laundry operations will be carried out under stringent safety standards.
- All staff handling laundry will comply with established health and safety standards.
Dining
- There will be NO menus displayed at the restaurant. Menus can be discussed and shared through a smart-phone if required.
- Mostly, Sri Lankan menus will be served with some variations of your choice, and all meals will be served plated.
- Dining tables and chairs will be placed adhering to the distance stipulated by Health Authorities.
- All cutlery & crockery used are dipped in hot water and dried prior to placing them on the table and the cutlery will be covered and placed at the table.
- Only rubberized place mats will be used by us and they will be disinfected prior to use.
- Paper napkins will be provided instead of cloth napkins.
- Each table will be thoroughly sanitized before and after each meal.
- For group bookings, agents are requested to confirm group meal plans and timings to reserve tables accordingly.
- Restaurant staff members work in disposable gloves and masks/face shields, maintaining a safe social distance.
- We have taken extra measures to ensure your meals are safe without compromising its taste or standard.
Kitchen/Pantry
- Food storage and preparation are carried out under stringent safety standards.
- All staff comply with established health and safety standards.
Public Areas
- All public areas will be disinfected every four (04) hours. Liquid hand sanitizers will be available in all public areas.
- Reading material will NOT be kept in the living areas.
- Access to public areas will be limited to staff & guests.
- We urge you to adhere to social distancing practices within the public areas.
Excursions and Other Activities
- We understand your desire to enjoy your stay and we would ensure that all facilities/activities are safe for your use/experience.
- All sunbeds, bicycles and gear, indoor games, etc., will be disinfected before and after each use.
- When engaging in our outdoor excursions, we strongly recommend that you follow all health & safety precautions.
- Excursion activities may be limited in keeping with social distancing and other safety concerns.
- When on outside excursions, we recommend that you select operators who are given a valid license by relevant authorities.
- You will be required to follow our safety protocols upon your return after every excursion.
Supplies/Suppliers
- There will be a defined restricted area for suppliers.
- All suppliers will be screened upon arrival and directed to the designated area, and requested to go through our health and safety procedures.
- Their details such as Name, Contact & ID numbers will be recorded for future reference.
- All supplies to the hotel will be sanitized at this point.
- Fresh items will be washed prior to taking them in for storage.
Our Staff
- Our staff members are regularly trained in accordance with the current health & safety guidelines.
- Upon arrival at work, each staff member undergoes a well-being checkup. In the event of negative symptoms, the member is not allowed to work.
- Each staff member performs his/her duties in disposable gloves and, in accordance with the requirements, in a mask or protective helmet, in parts of the facility where direct contact with the guest takes place.
- Staff members have access to disinfectants such as liquids, wet wipes, personal protective materials, etc.
- The common rooms and facilities used by our staff are disinfected regularly, using all safety standards.
Health & Safety Rapid Response Team (HSRRT)
- Our Team will ensure that all safe and secure operational guidelines are provided rapidly and effectively.
- They will oversee that the necessary training on health & safety monitoring procedures are put in place.
- They will maintain a log book of all actions taken.
- Maintain regular communication with guests and keep them up-to-date.
- They will ensure the wellbeing of all staff and keep a tab on their families’ wellbeing and their health as well, to avoid any contamination.
- The HSRRT will be aware and updated on actions to be taken if a case is identified within the premises. In the event of such an instance, they will immediately inform the relevant health authorities while isolating the guest in a room on a temporary basis. No visitors will be permitted to enter the room occupied by the affected guest. All areas used by this guest will be disinfected and in order to minimise the risk of contaminating other guests or members of the staff, the infected guest will be transferred out of the hotel premises according to instructions from the local health authorities.
- Necessary tests will be carried out on the other guests to ensure they have not been affected as well.
- We will also take necessary measures to contact all other checked out guests who have come into contact with the infected guest or staff.
- The Team will be in constant touch with the local health authorities to establish updated action plans to prevent and mitigate the spread of Covid 19.
